Social Equality

Gender Equality

Definition
Gender equality is a phrase that represents having access to rights and opportunities, no matter what gender.
Causes
-
uneven access to education
-
lack of employment equality
-
lack of political representation
-
lack of religious freedom
-
Societal mindsets

Societal mindset
We need to be able to see that it doesn't matter what gender a person is, they should still get access to the same rights as others. It is a problem when that isn't the case as it delays advancement as a society.

Improvement
Having a mindset that sees everyone as equal is the least a person can do. When everybody does, the other causes of gender inequality will slowly be fixed.
Engage Yourself
How do we show support for gender equality? How do we address the problems that add to gender inequality? How do we make a difference?
Go out, show support!
There are many protest movements for many different problems concerning gender inequality. For example for the Pink Tax or equal pay. Also to show support you can sign petitions.
Bringing it to light
Many people know that there is gender inequality, but they don't know specifically how or where. Educating people, through websites and hackathons, for example, can help show others where it comes from and how it affects people.
